Professor Johan Frederik Biering var sognepræst fra 1843 til 1867. <br />

Han nød ry for sine digte på latin og satte bl.a. et vers over havedøren i den af ham opførte præstegård i [[Vig]]. <br />
<br />
Hans lærdom skaffede ham professortitlen. <br />
<br />
Professor Biering skrev - før han kom til Vig - en julesang, som øjensynligt har været forbilledet for Fabers senere "Højt fra træets grønne top", som den helt igennem ligner.<br />
