Som 20-årig tog han afgangseksamen fra Niels Brochs Handelshøjskole.<br />

Derefter sendte hans far ham et år til Frankrig i Aix-en-Provence, som er hovedstaden i Provence, for at lære andre forhold.<br />
<br />
Året efter hjemkomsten tog han studentereksamen.<br />
<br />
Han læste derefter medicin til 1934.<br />
<br />
Derefter virkede han som læge i Fåborg, på Bispebjerg Hospital, og i 9 år hos professor dr. Hjalmer Helweg på Københavns Universitets klinik for psykiatri på Rigshospitalet, kom han ind ved sindssygevæsenet.<br />
<br />
Derefter blev han afdelingslæge på [[Amtshospitalet]] i [[Nykøbing Sjælland]] til 1952.<br />
<br />
Derefter kom han til Dianalund, og overtog to år senere Dianalunds nyoprettede afdeling for patienter med sindslidelser.<br />
<br />
Han er gift med en søster til læge Fonnesbech-Wulff, [[Nykøbing Sjælland]].<br />
